Advocate For Change!

Whether you are an educator in a health and wellness field or you just value physical activity as apart of a healthy lifestyle you can be an advocate for change.  We have to remember we are role models whether we like it or not and in order to be an advocate for physical activity you have to model this desired behavior.  If you want to take the next step in generating change, be a physical activity leader by creating a program to help others.  This is the ultimate in being a physical activity advocate.  As you are not only modeling the behavior you are involving others and educating them.  I will show you materials I have used in creating a physical activity program for elementary age students along with theories, frameworks and models you can easily apply in creating your own program to be an advocate for physical activity with all age groups.

Example Program: Fitness Club For Students In 4th & 5th Grade

Applying Theories, Frameworks & Models

The health belief model is best used to identify the target population's beliefs regarding the health behavior in question.

The logic models design is best used as an evaluation tool for your program.

Action plan application will help iron out details of program planning.

Social cognitive theory will provide information on how the target population's knowledge and behavior is impacted by the social context in which they live.
